Helen Lacey ALCM


Helen is a qualified Registered General Nurse who changed career in 1994 to teaching music privately. Whilst training for her ALCM performance diploma, which she was awarded in 2001, Helen worked as a Teaching Assistant in Hampshire obtaining an OCR Level 2 in “Supporting Teaching and Learning” along the way. Her work for the primary school included running recorder groups and supporting and accompanying school performances. Helen has also been a member of several choirs including the Newbury Choral Society. Shortly after joining Music for Life, Helen took up jazz piano and has had several pupils who have passed ABRSM jazz piano exams. More recently Helen has taken up and attained grade 8 on the flute, in which she now teaches and also performs in the “Two Can Tootle” woodwind duo. Helen is a friendly, conscientious teacher with a strong commitment to self improvement and good experience of working in schools. As a keen supporter of the Music for Life ethos, Helen assists with the running of the Music for Life Junior Orchestra at all their rehearsals and events. Helen’s background, personal qualities and musical interests are all of great benefit to her Music for Life pupils.
