Andrew began his music education at the age of eight with violin lessons, progressing to achieve grade 6. However, he picked up the guitar at the age of ten, and has not put it down since! By the time he was fifteen he had become a regular performer at venues across the northwest with various bands. These included performances in both the Cavern Club and a sell-out concert in the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool. After successfully completing his A-levels in Music, Maths and Chemistry, Andrew continued his music education at Canterbury Christ Church University in Kent. Here he obtained his music degree covering many different genres of music, from classical through to rock, pop and jazz. Andrew’s chosen specialisms were in jazz performance, composition and arrangement; and instrumental teaching. Alongside his intense studies, Andrew taught guitar on a part-time basis around all areas of Kent. He has taught large groups of both children and adults, alongside smaller groups and many one-to-one students. Andrew is a firm believer that through enjoyment and hard work every student can reach their potential (as a guitarist) and has high ambitions for all his pupils. He thoroughly enjoys working with children, sharing his enthusiasm and inspiring them as guitarists; after all, every one of his new young pupils are part of the next generation of guitarists.
