Martha Cullen BMus (Hons)


Martha Cullen has recently gained a Bachelor of Music degree with First Class Honours from the Royal Northern College of Music, where she studied the saxophone, flute and clarinet. Before joining the RNCM, Martha first came to Manchester to study at Chetham’s School of Music, having grown up in East Yorkshire. Martha was awarded 1st prize in the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain’s 2021 Soloist Competition and was awarded ‘Highly Commended’ by the judging panel in the Final of the RNCM Gold Medal Competition, the college’s most prestigious performance award. As well as being an experienced solo performer, Martha has played in Orchestras, Wind Bands, Big Bands and Session Ensembles working with guest artists from around the world. In addition to playing in larger ensembles, she is a member of the Idesta Duo, founded in 2019. The duo frequently give recitals and have recently completed an online project premiering new collaborative works for saxophone duo and animated film. As a versatile and flexible woodwind doubler, Martha freelances on musical theatre productions across the North West.
