Jack Corlett left Bangor University with a Masters Degree in Music (majoring in Performance and Composition), and has been teaching Drums and Percussion in the North West and North Wales areas since 2005. Specializing in a wide range of genres; from Rock and Pop, right through to Jazz and Classical; you’ll find Jack most at home in Musical Theatre styles, having recently been on tour with Michael Courtney’s Mad About The Musicals tour, and also performed in dozens of other shows, including Les Misérables, West Side Story, and The Producers. He also plays regularly with groups across the area, and is Chair and Principal Percussionist of Wirral Symphonic Wind Band.
His drum education began at the age of 10 with Tony Jennings, then studying with Dr Dewi Ellis Jones whilst at Bangor, and has since attended masterclasses with Steve White (from Paul Weller’s Style Council) and Dame Evelyn Glennie. Jack is always looking to expand his skills, and is content that there will always be more to learn. Teaching mostly from the Rockschool and Trinity syllabuses, Jack has had huge successes with students entering exams over the years. Lessons are in-depth, with a focus on technique and rudiments, yet flexible and fun, tailoring the lessons to best suit the students’ wishes.
