Elaine started her musical education in Cheshire, playing the piano, violin and guitar from Primary school onwards. Throughout school she played in orchestras and String groups and sang with a variety of choirs and Operatic Societies. She studied Music and English (BA Hons) in London, with piano as her main study, and then went on to gain a PGCE in Primary Education at the University of Manchester. She has taught for both Oldham and Rochdale Music Services, as a peripatetic musician, and also spent several years as a Primary Class teacher, covering all subjects as well as music, plus taking extra-curricular Choirs and Musical groups.
Following University she took further studies on piano with the Concert pianist Gordon Fergus-Thompson. Elaine has taught abroad, teaching in Nepal for a year, but now teaches ‘Class Music’ at schools in Runcorn as well as teaching piano privately and with ‘Music for Life’ in Cheshire. She has played the violin in the ‘Northern Baroque Orchestra’ and now sings with the ‘Vale Royal Singers’. She has sung with the Chester Festival Chorus and performed with them at the 2005 Royal Albert Hall proms as well as singing regularly in Chester Cathedral. Elaine is a pianist and violinist in a Music group and accompanies singers and instrumentalists both within and out of school.
