Jazz Orchestra / Jazz Band Rehearsal
The Cheshire Youth Music for Life Jazz Orchestra, directed by Jo McCallum, rehearses from 10:15 – 15:00 and is suitable for young musicians around Grade 5 and above. It was set up by Alastair McWilliam, Director of Music for Life in 2002, originally in partnership with Cheshire County Council, with the aim to offer the opportunity for some of our regions best young musicians to develop their interest and skills in playing jazz. Over the years, hundreds of young musicians have benefitted from it, with many former members going on to careers in music or in teaching music. The atmosphere in the band has always been fun but focussed on playing great music to a very exciting standard. If you are interested in joining, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Cheshire Youth Music for Life Jazz Band, directed by Andy Morel, is a brand new initiative to allow younger players to experience the excitement of playing this kind of music at an earlier stage in their musical development. For many, this will be their “apprenticeship” before going on to join the Jazz Orchestra. The band is open to players around grade 2 or higher. This band also rehearses at Hartford High School, but the rehearsal time is shorter than for the more advanced group starting at 10:15 and finishing at 1:15. If you are interested in joining, please contact email@example.com.
