Simon is a very experienced musician, who has taught privately and in colleges and schools for many years. He is a multi-instrumentalist whose main instruments are clarinet, saxophone, guitar, bass and piano; he also plays the mandolin, banjo and ukulele, and sings. He has been playing musical instruments since the age of six, and at 11 was selected to attend the Centre for Young Musicians in London. At Secondary School Simon was a member of a dance band and also performed with the London Schools Concert Band and the London Youth Symphonic Band across the UK. His later formal training took place at Bangor University, where he specialised in solo performance and music technology, gaining a BMus(hons). Simon has continued to gain a great deal of performance experience in classical, pop, rock and folk settings and has appeared at diverse venues ranging from The Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall in London to various open air music festivals throughout the UK. When not teaching, Simon is a professional sound engineer and producer, who has worked with several upcoming successful local artists. He also performs regularly as part of an acoustic duo.
