Woodwind

Hazel is a very experienced teacher and musician. She studied at the Royal Northern College of Music where she graduated with a music Honours degree and a diploma in Professional Performance. Whilst a student at the RNCM, Hazel embarked upon the “Art of Teaching Woodwind Instruments” training programme and was awarded the coveted Maimie” Woods Woodwind Prize”. Now as a performer she works at the highest levels, having been appointed a member of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and performing regularly with all the major orchestras in the North West including the Manchester Halle, the Manchester Camerata and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. She has performed at the Royal Albert Hall many times including for the BBC Proms and played in all the major concert halls throughout Europe, most notably at the world renowned “Music Verien” in Vienna. Hazel has undertaken extensive educational outreach work with all these major orchestras. Hazel is delighted to be a member of the Music For Life scheme as this gives her the chance to combine her love of teaching with her performing as a classically trained professional musician and she is keen to pass on to her pupils her wealth of experience and enthusiasm. Hazel has worked with Music for Life for almost 20 years now and is an outstanding and popular teacher. She specializes in teaching all woodwind instruments to a very high standard and has an excellent track record entering hundreds of pupils for Associated Board music exams, most of whom are awarded Merits and Distinctions. Hazel hopes to pass on her enthusiasm for music, to inspire and to encourage all her pupils to achieve their full potential and to give them a lifelong love of music.
