Brass

Mike began his playing career at the age of 7 with the Poynton Youth Brass Band. Under the tuition of ex Fairey’s cornet player Les Hall he joined the Hazel Grove Brass band and also the Cheshire Youth Brass band in which he attained the seat of Principal cornet.

His playing career took off when he was asked to join the Fodens band on 3rd cornet and eventually worked his way through the cornet section. Since then he has played for YBS and Hepworth. Since 2004 he has played at the Fairey Band where he played Repiano, Assistant Principal and Principal cornet. Mike is now the band’s flugel horn player and conductor of the band’s internationally renowned “Acid Brass” venture. Throughout his career he has enjoyed many concert and contest successes. He is also an endorsee for Geneva instruments.
