Christopher Rushton HND(Music)

Drums

Chris has been playing music since the age of 7. After graduating from college with a HND in Popular Music he immediately joined a world music African political band fronted by the artist Emmanuel Jal playing shows all over the world, encompassing a UK tour of venues such as the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, The Barbican in London and The Usher Hall in Edinburgh. In addition to this, he played a string of festivals across Europe, a USA tour which was promoted by National Geographic and in Africa he played in Kenya and Sudan as part of a charity event.

Chris has always been involved with bands from the Stoke area, playing music that he has written himself or co written with others. In 2003, he developed a 70’s tribute band, “The Boogie Knights” with musicians he had met during his time at college. The band plays regularly at corporate events, weddings and private parties. While with The Boogie Knights, Chris was encouraged by fellow band mates, also music tutors, to start a career in teaching. Chris is now a tutor at Malbank High School in Nantwich and drums teacher at Inspire Music in Stone. Chris’ passion for music and love for performance enables him to bring out the confidence in students of all ages giving them the motivation to become the best player they can be.
