Matt has over 10 years guitar teaching experience in schools and has been playing and performing in bands since his teens. Matt studied music at Salford University and graduated with the Goff Richards instrumental award. It was here he received tuition from fantastic teachers, Mike Walker, Alan Williams and Robin Dewhurst, all had a big impact on Matt’s playing and also his teaching methods. Matt is currently writing and playing for original jazz/funk band Tokyo Sauce, but has played guitar for artists as wide ranging and diverse as, Gary Gibson (John Lennon Tribute) to the original music of soul singer Charlie Cooper. He has also played for a variety of musical directors, Rick Guard, Matthew Ball and X Factor finalist Jonathan Ansell (G4). Matt believes the guitar and music in general should be a fun and exciting subject and always instils that same enthusiasm in his students. Matt is experienced in teaching all ages from primary to adult and believes anyone can pick up a musical instrument and enjoy making music.
