Jane Street BA (Hons) RNCM

Brass

Jane started playing the piano and clarinet before turning to brass and picking up a baritone aged 13. Jane developed through the Hampshire County Youth Band and National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain structures and played in her first Championship section brass band at the age of 14. This led to being accepted into the Royal Northern College of Music, at the time as the only student of her instrument, to work with tutors such as Steven Mead, Robert Childs and Sandy Smith and conductors such as James Gourlay and Howard Snell. Jane was awarded a BA degree in Music with distinction in academic studies in 2000 with a final recital which included a commissioned work for baritone and wind quintet especially for the occasion. Jane is now a member of Northop Silver Band as well as performing the duties of Secretary and Band Manager, and holds the post of Treasurer of the North Wales Brass Band Association.
