Helen is an accomplished trumpet player and vocalist based in South Cheshire. She has over 10 years experience of music teaching; as both a classroom and instrumental teacher.  She is passionate about the value of good music education in schools and the integral role it plays in our children’s educational experience and development. Helen studied at the University of Manchester from 2002-2006, gaining an undergraduate honors degree and postgraduate masters degree in Music; specialising in musicology and performance(trumpet and voice). Helen then entered Cambridge University to study music teaching in 2007. Helen moved to Cheshire in 2008 and has since worked both as a teacher and head of music in a successful music department of a secondary school, teaching all aspects of the music curriculum from primary outreach workshops through to A level. Whilst here Helen was director of the very successful school Big Band and Chamber Choir, taking them on several European tours.  She also continued her studies in education at Edge Hill University until 2011. Helen continues to perform regularly as principal trumpet of the NSSO and in the Cheshire 20 Big Band amongst others.  In addition to teaching at Music For Life, Helen is the Musical Director of the Nantwich Youth Choir and teaches brass and vocal lessons in several local primary and secondary schools.
