GROUPS
Senior String Group
About the group
This group was launched in May 2006. It will offer a logical progression from the Junior Orchestra and will offer more advanced string players the opportunity to play more challenging music.
Who is the orchestra suitable for?
Membership is open to those students in who play violin, viola, cello or double bass to Grade 4 standard or above.
When are rehearsals held?
Normally once a month alternating between Saturdays and Sundays from 10am - 12.30pm. This keeps the commitment for parents to transport children to the minimum – there are usually only 9 rehearsals a year.
Where are rehearsals held?
Malbank High School, Nantwich.
DIRECTIONS and ACCESS to Malbank High School
The school is ½ mile out of Nantwich on the A534 Nantwich to Chester Road (Welsh Row) opposite a new housing development. Access is gained through the doors next to the hall at the back of the school.
What should students bring?
Just their instrument, a music stand and a snack and drink.
What is the cost of membership?
Membership of the group is completely free to Music for Life students. Students who do not learn with Music for Life are very welcome to join for a small fee of £45 per year (£15 per term). Please just contact us to find out whether there is a place available and to register.
How do we join?
Just contact us by email or phone to register an interest and we will then send an application form out to you. Following advice from Cheshire County Council, we require all parents to register their children in writing by either completing and posting a registration form or by confirming by email.
