Step 2. Decide which course option to choose
| • |
Option A – two students sharing a 20 minute lesson or three students sharing 30 minutes. Students sharing must obviously be learning the same instruments and be working at around the same standard. This option is often the best for beginners, as they are obviously starting from the same level. It also keeps the cost down while you try lessons out, and it can be nice to get started alongside a friend. Note that we do not teach piano or drums in groups, so this option is not available. |
| • |
Option B – an individual 20 minute lesson. Most Music for Life students are on this option, many choosing to go for this after the first year’s tuition. |
| • |
Option C – an individual 30 minute lesson. This option tends to be chosen by students who are working at more advanced levels and who are highly committed to studying their chosen instrument. |

*IMPORTANT NOTE: Monthly payment amounts may vary depending on when the course commences. This is because a tuition agreement specific to each student will be posted out to you by us when a course place is arranged. As over 90% of students continue after the taster course, tuition agreements are not just made out for 12 weeks, but are made out to provide lessons up until July of the academic year. This saves the vast majority of parents from having to complete more forms and having to set up new bank payments should they wish to continue with lessons after the initial taster period; in other words, if students decide to carry on, there is nothing whatsoever parents need do! However, all students have the right to cancel further lessons after the 12 week period. We will write to you to remind you of your right to cancel, and to send a report on your child’s progress. A phone call or email is all that is needed to inform us should you not require further lessons, or should you wish to try another instrument.

Course fees are the same pro-rata after the taster period. They do not suddenly increase. |
| • |
Our commitment is to keeping fees as low as possible without compromising the quality of tuition provided. In fact, over the past 12 years our fees have increased on average, by less than 2.2% per year; this is much much less than the rate of inflation over the same period. |
| • |
Fee reductions are available to families in receipt of Income Support. |
| • |
Schools may subsidise these course fees, meaning courses are cheaper. |
| • |
Course fees not only cover the provision of lessons by some of the best teachers in the North West, but also the provision of performance opportunities to many students as appropriate, completely free of further charge. |
| • |
Remember, course fees do not cover the cost of an instrument. All students will need their own instrument to take a taster course so, unless you already have one, have a look at “Getting an Instrument”. The good news is that you can rent most instruments for the duration of our taster course before you decide whether to buy. Whatever you pay in rental then comes off the purchase price should you decide to buy. |
